Genre: Comedy
Plots: Three generations of women fight over their place in the family when a grandmother hosts Christmas Eve to win back her ex-husband. Forty years ago, Howard, the love of Evelyn’s life, divorced her and she settled for marrying his best friend to raise her daughter in a family home. Now, shortly after this second husband’s passing, Evelyn has taken on tenants to stave off her loneliness: a middle-aged web developer, and a weed-dealing paraplegic named Dick. When she learns that Howard’s wife has died, Evelyn hatches a scheme to host Christmas Eve for the first time in years as an excuse to invite Howard to dinner and get a chance to win him back and reclaim her happiness. But the morning of the party, with guests already on the way, Dick has a stroke and collapses in the dining room. Dead. Rather than jeopardize her carefully-orchestrated plans, Evelyn hides his corpse in the closet and tries to move forward with Christmas as if nothing has happened. So when Evelyn’s daughter shows up with a fiancée celebrating her 18th birthday–a girl who’s six years younger than her granddaughter–the revelation that they plan to have a surprise wedding in the backyard results in a dramatic power struggle with all three generations of women blaming the others for hijacking the evening. By the time Howard arrives, total chaos has erupted.
