A botched experiment transmutes a man into a monstrous insect.
An overly ambitious scientist accidentally merges with a housefly while conducting a bizarre teleporting experiment. Now his journalist girlfriend suddenly finds herself caring for a hideous creature whose insect half gradually begins to take over.
Teleportation has always been considered the holy grail of science. Brilliant physicist Seth Brundle believes he is on the verge of a breakthrough; after all, he has successfully teleported inanimate matter from point A to point B through his innovative telepods. However, living tissue is an entirely different thing; Brundle’s incomplete machine still cannot handle flesh and blood effectively. If only Seth could crack the code. As the inquisitive scientific journalist Veronica Quaife pushes for results and a cover story in Particle magazine, Brundle decides to cut corners and test the disintegrator/integrator device on himself. But being dismantled atom by atom and then reassembled with seemingly flawless accuracy is one thing; keeping uninvited guests from joining the experiment is another. With insect DNA irrevocably spliced into his human genome, is the world ready for what Seth Brundle is becoming?
