Half Baked

Plots: The story of three not so bright men who come up with a series of crazy schemes to get a friend out of jail. After Kenny accidentally kills a cop’s diabetic horse by feeding it the food he purchased from a munchie run, he is put in jail and is given a 1 million dollar bail. The rest of the group must bail Kenny out before Nasty Nate gets to him. The group decides to sell marijuana that Thurgood gets through his job as a janitor at a pharmaceutical lab. They become pals with rap star Sir Smoke-A-Lot and the rivals of dealer Samson Simpson. On the side, Thurgood seeks the love of Mary Jane, an anti-pot daughter of a dealer. What follows is typical pothead behaviour with a ton of cameos. Look carefully. Friends since childhood and now roommates in New York City, Thurgood, Scarface, Brian and Kenny are underachieving potheads, that underachieving nature demonstrated by not striving for anything beyond their current jobs of a janitor at a medical research facility, a line cook at a fast food restaurant, a record store clerk, and a kindergarten teacher due to his own childlike nature, respectively. Their collective lives are upended when Kenny is imprisoned after he inadvertently kills a diabetic “police officer” – a horse – by feeding it junk food. With Kenny emotionally ill-equipped to handle prison life, the other three are determined at least to get him out of prison by raising the $1 million bail. They think they have a way to raise the money when Thurgood discovers that there is a vast amount of marijuana at his work site, some of which they plan to steal to sell. Beyond actually stealing the marijuana, they come into two problems: first, they come to the attention of their regular marijuana dealer, Samson, who will not tolerate the competition; and second, Thurgood meets and falls for Mary Jane, from who he not only has to hide his drug dealing but the fact that he basically lives on weed, as she is anti-drug, including being anti-marijuana.
