Plots: Stuck in a dead-end job Graham Merrill adopts an otter, Mij, as a pet and then moves to an isolated village in western Scotland. Adventures ensue. Whoever said dog is man’s best friend never met Mij. Mij is a cute, cuddly pet-shop otter who captures the heart of Graham Merill (Bill Travers). It doesn’t take Graham long to realize that London is no place to raise a slippery otter. So he takes Mij to live in a ramshackle cottage on the coast of Scotland. Together they explore the curious and magnificent natural wonders that surround their seaside home–from orphaned geese to toothless sharks. While Mij spends his days frolicking in the icy-cold sea, Graham falls in love with the beautiful town doctor, Mary (Virginia McKenna). Before long, the three become inseparable friends. Graham Merrill is working in a dead-end job in London when he adopts an otter, Mij, as a pet. He soon realizes that his small apartment is not the ideal place to keep an otter. Figuring that it’s time to work on the book he always intended to write, he quits and moves to a small cottage in an isolated village on the west coast of Scotland. The change makes for some great adventures with Mij and causes Graham to meet Mary MacKenzie, the beautiful town doctor.
