The Cat Returns

Plots: After helping a cat, a seventeen-year-old girl finds herself involuntarily engaged to a cat Prince in a magical world where her only hope of freedom lies with a dapper cat statuette come to life. Haru returns home after an uninspiring day at school, feeling bored with her everyday routine. However, life is full of surprises; when Haru rescues a peculiar cat, her world turns upside down in ways she never imagined. Soon, things take an even more unexpected turn when, later that evening, Haru has an eye-opening encounter with pure fantasy in front of her doorstep. Now showered with undeserved gifts and embarrassing gratitude, Haru must learn to have faith in herself and appreciate the little things in life to change her destiny. But first things first. Is Haru ready to meet her Prince Charming? Can she handle the wonders of a strange, magical realm hidden right under her nose? A teenage girl rescues a mysterious cat from traffic and soon finds herself the unwelcome recipient of gifts and favors from The Cat King (Tetsurō Tanba and Tim Curry), who also wants her to marry his son, Prince Lune (Takayuki Yamada and Andrew Bevis). With the assistance of a fat, grouchy real cat and a an elegant cat statuette come to life (both characters featured in Studio Ghibli’s Mimi o sumaseba (1995)), the girl visits the Cat Kingdom and narrowly escapes again.
